Challenge 2016!

#walk1000miles

I am really excited, I have signed up to the Country Walking magazine’s 2016 challenge to ‘Walk 1000 Miles in 2016’.  Already this week I have walked over 23 miles, mainly by popping out at lunch time and pounding the streets, not as much fun as a lovely walk in the country, but even so, energising and really quite de-stressing, and I have noticed that I am sleeping more deeply, so definitely plenty of health benefits, including feeling fitter, building muscle strength, enjoying the fresh air, and taking much more notice of life around you that just gets missed when you are driving by.

My plan is to try and take a few interesting pictures on each walk and post them to keep a pictorial diary and reminder of what is all around us every day!

Just the beginning!

Who are we? Just two people enjoying walking – Mandy and Graham!

About two years ago, after many years of having different interests and hobbies in life; for Graham ranging from football, cricket, scuba diving, golf; for me, Mandy, and I would describe myself as a bit of a joiner really, hobbies include, genealogy, which I still love, various craft hobbies, volunteering in many various roles, so on and so forth.  One thing we have both always loved is our dogs, and therefore enjoyed walking, another common passion has been travel, which we have not done as much as we would like to.

Recently Graham has become interested in photography, and I have always loved taking photos of plants, flowers, etc.  So two interests in common – walking and photography – this could be interesting!

We decided that we wanted to keep a record of our walks as we enjoyed them so much; we are really beginners in every sense of the word, and therefore have found various challenges along the way which we have been learning from and would like to share those lessons.
